Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture

Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture

meizenMei Zen means “beautiful person”. You don’t need Botox, cosmetic surgery or anti-aging skin creams to achieve beautiful skin. Reverse the aging process naturally. Harness the time-honored wisdom of Chinese medicine and reclaim a radiant and youthful appearance.

The Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System is a holistic, natural and comprehensive skin rejuvenation program designed to restore, rejuvenate, relax and reduce signs of aging, drawn from ancient texts and based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The insertion of very small, thin disposable needles into acupuncture points on the face increases local skin-layer circulation and stimulates the production of collagen, enhancing the collagen/elastin web under the dermal layer, filling out fine and deep lines, giving firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion.

The Mei Zen Acupuncture Facelift is a special technique. Acupuncture practitioners in China working with trauma patients alongside medical doctors developed this modern treatment format to enhance, extend and ensure the effectiveness of and recovery from reconstructive surgery. The results and the recoveries were significant. Mei Zen practitioners use this very protocol!

If you have ever considered having a cosmetic procedure to deal with aging or problem skin, I highly recommend that you give the Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture at Austin Longevity a try.

Before going through the Mei Zen treatments, I had investigated some of the popular treatments that are out there today. I was not thrilled by the invasive nature of some of the treatments, the expense associated with the available treatments, and the short term benefits associated with the treatments. Having had a great deal of success with acupuncture for other issues and having researched a bit about it on the Internet, I decided to give Mei Zen a try. I am really glad I did. In a few days I noticed changes in the elasticity and color tone of my skin.

About half way through the treatments, I saw noticeable tightening of the skin on my neck. At the end of the treatments, I felt that there was a great overall improvement in my skin quality that is very natural and unaffected. Now, I follow-up with single treatments every 3 months to keep my skin looking and feeling fresh and healthy.

Some people ask me if the treatments hurt. There is initial slight sting as some of the needles are placed; but this feeling abates in a second or two. Once all of the needles are all in place, you are left in a peaceful room for several minutes; I love this opportunity to become completely relaxed! Any slight discomfort I might feel is worth it to say goodbye to the neck waddle and hello to healthy skin.

How does it work?

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat many conditions and illnesses. The effectiveness of acupuncture results from the manipulation of energy at specific points on the body, balancing energies and/or removing blockages along the meridians (channels of blood and energy) to achieve optimal health and to prevent disease.

Cosmetic Acupuncture will revitalize the face and skin and at the same time resolve underlying factors that contribute to the aging process. Needles inserted into the meridian pathways increase the flow of Qi (energy) so more energy and more blood circulate to the face, nourishing, hydrating, and toning. Needling points on the face enhances our ‘outer’ beauty; needling additional acupuncture points (usually on the arms or legs) benefits ‘inside’ harmony. This is a holistic approach: beautify the exterior and tend to the interior influences.

What are the benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture?

See years disappear from your face.
Regain radiant, youthful-looking skin.
Increase circulation & skin oxygenation.
Clear blemishes & control acne.
Resolve skin discoloration, age spots & rosacea.

Rejuvenation goes beyond your face. You will feel better all over!

An important note about Mei Zen:

Not all cosmetic acupuncture systems are the same. Not all can be so successfully applied elsewhere on the body. This protocol is not just for the face. Mei Zen on the abdomen is a natural ‘tummy-tuck’. The abdominal ‘tummy-tuck’ will flatten the abdomen, improve posture, and diminish stretch marks.

Does it really make a difference?

A 1996 report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases of women treated with Cosmetic Acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment. The effects included softened skin, healthier complexions, improved facial muscle elasticity and overall rejuvenation.

For centuries, Chinese Medicine practitioners and Empresses of Imperial Courts have known that beauty radiates from the inside out: when the internal body is harmonized and nourished, when energy and blood flow smoothly, the external body will reveal its radiance. Today, you can discover and benefit from this age-old wisdom. You can look and feel younger. Let your outward beauty radiate your inner fitness and harmony.

Who would benefit from this procedure?

Anyone who wants to delay the process of aging and wants to look and feel younger.

Who should not have Cosmetic Acupuncture?

There are various cautions including thyroid problems, blood disorders, damaged blood vessels, hypersensitivity, hypertensive disease and those with pacemakers. It may still be possible however to use facial massage and some alternative techniques in such circumstances.

What if I've had Botox?

Cosmetic Acupuncture will maintain the effectiveness of Botox and save you several (or all!) injections during the year.

Why choose Cosmetic Acupuncture over other procedures?

Surgery, laser resurfacing, injectable therapies and other ‘non-invasive’ procedures are being used to create a youthful appearance. These procedures only address the ‘outside’ you. They can be expensive and they carry significant risks.

A Mei Zen Facelift is an excellent alternative. It is far less expensive. It is safe and virtually painless. It has no side effects, no extended recovery time, no swelling or discoloration, no risk of disfigurement. There is no trauma and if it does not suit you, you can stop with no ill effects. Treatment protocols can be modified to suit individual patients.

What is the course of treatment? How long does it take?

A course of treatment is 10 to 12 sessions done 2 to 3 times a week. One session takes about an hour and a half. With deep wrinkles, the procedure can take up to 8 weeks. Individuals respond differently depending upon their constitution, age and lifestyle. Visible results can often be seen after one or two treatments and will be consistent after 6 to 7 sessions. Once the procedure is completed, the changes and improvements can last to up to 5 years! Maintenance is recommended – generally, a ‘tune-up’ treatment every 3 or 4 months.

Is this procedure painful?

The procedure is much less painful than many of today’s sought-after skin treatments. The needles are tiny, special ‘hand’ needles. Insertion is shallow into the dermal layer of the skin.

Will I need special products to take care of my face?

No. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture works without any special products. But of course, use good quality skin care products and have a daily facial routine that keeps your skin clean and moisturized. Results will last longer!
