You can find what-to-include lists on a number of websites like the Red Cross, OSHA and the Mayo Clinic. You can find ready-made kits for purchase. I suggest gathering what you need and putting everything together in a sealable container (waterproof if possible). Check the contents periodically, too.
Here we go (you will be okay if you don’t have EVERYTHING on the list. this one is VERY comprehensive)…

Flashlight and/or pen flashlight, with batteries that work, and extra batteries that work!
Cell phone with charger
Emergency blanket
Two pair non-latex gloves (large)
Fumacare Jumbo Workplace First Aid Kit

Scissors
Tweezers
Oral thermometer (non-mercury/non-glass)
Instant cold compress or ice pack
Tongue depressors
Bulb syringe
Safety pins
Duct tape
Alcohol
Hand sanitizer and/or soap
Alcohol pads/antiseptic wipe packets for disinfecting
Eye wash solution: flush eyes or use as general decontaminant

Lubricant
Sterile dressings to stop bleeding: absorbent compress dressings (5 x 9 inches)
Sterile gauze pads (3 x 3 inches)
Sterile gauze pads (4 x 4 inches)
Band-Aids: Adhesive bandages in a variety of sizes plus Butterfly bandages
Adhesive cloth tape (10 yards x 1 inch)
Flex bandages/elastic roller bandages: 3 inches wide & 4 inches wide
Tourniquet
2 triangular bandages
Moleskin padding/blister protection patches
Plastic bags or baggies
Prescription medications you take every day. Rotate periodically/ check expiration dates
Prescribed medical supplies (such as blood pressure monitor)
